One last session at Larkollen before departure

Had a great day at my local spot Larkollen to day. Just 6 days before I'm leaving Oslo for 3,5 week on Maui, the wind kicked in for a great day of 4,4m2 sailing. I had about 3 hours on the water and about half off the time it was great waves (for Larkollen). The water is getting colder and it's almost impossible to go surfing after work since it's getting dark earlier and earlier as we get closer to winter. I'm realy looking forward to join Tormod on Maui. This was possibly my last session at Larkollen this year, because when we get home from Maui it's almost winter (october 28th)

A great day at Larkollen

Larkollen 2009

After a summer almost without desent wind at our local break Larkollen we sent our dear friend Thomas (who is living at Larkollen) on a weekendtrip to Balticum, it payed off big time. Sunday was almost as good as Larkollen can get in the summer. I sailed for an hour with my 5.0m2 and the rest of the day with my 4,4m2. Had great time on the water but as always in the summer the waves was not as god as we like them to be. But even if some of us where missing bigger waves, there where plenty off windsurfers who couldn't care less about the waves, the place was crawling with windsurfers on every level. It looked like everbody who had a windsurfer in theire garage or anywhere else had decided to go Windsurfing at Larkollen.

In other words it was a great day for windsurfers of any level, let's just hope the next day will come sone.

Blown away at Larkollen

Jørgen, Pekka & my self was waiting patient for the wind to arrive at Larkollen yesterday, and we was rewarded with a great session at "smørbrød". We sailed with 4,4m2 and got a litle taste off how good it could be out there. And yes it was sideshore, but we always had the feeling that the wind & waves was almost ready to go off but they just wouldn't let go. So in the end we went back to the beach only to find out that the wind realy kicked inn as we was almost in at the beach. I sail a couple off rounds at "Hvalen" but pretty soon my sail was to big to handle and I went back to the beach. Considered going out with my 3,7m2 but it was getting darker every minute so I dropped it. One off the guys messured the wind to steady 21 m/s just after we had rigged down.

After a night in my van that was shaking in the wind all night we got out off our sleepingbags around 04.30 this morning, time to get up an rigg. Tried to get out on the water with my 3,7m2 around 05.15 but it was blowing much more than the 21 m/s we meassured yesterday night. I was totaly overpowered even in the shelter off the forrest. I managed to get out on the water but couldn't even get out of the bay due to the nukin wind. After a while I dropped it and decided to rigg down and go to work.

Finaly some wind in July

It's been a loooooong time since we had any good conditions at Larkollen, but to day we got lucky and had a great a time. Some of my friends was out on the water about 2 o'clock sailing 4,7m2 to 5,3m2.
When I arrived about 4 o'clock I rigged my 5,0m2, took my 84 liters waveboard and had almost two hours of great sailing in my shorty. As predicted the wind dropped around 6 o'clock but it dropped a lot quicker than we expected, so many of the guys ended up swimming back to the beach. When Jørgen got back on the beach as the last guy after a looooong swim, your could sort your stampcollection on the beach.

Another nukin day at Larkollen & the CL-Final

Last wedensday we had another great day at Larkollen. It was blowing cats & dogs and we also got some desent waves, if you can enjoy onshore conditions. I also got to test my new Goya W3D 4,4m2 and even without a perfect mast they fealt great, looking forward to test the other sails as well.
After almost 4 hours on the water we headed back to Oslo and was looking forward to watching the Champions League final between ManUtd and Barca. I had taped the match so we was able to watch it "live", it started great but ended with a nightmare about 2 o'clock in the night. Thank god we didn't drop the sailing to watch the match live.

What a kickoff

Finaly the seasson was kicked off with two great days at Larkollen, I had at soft start last saturday but the wind was so light that it hardly could count as a good surfsession. This weekend how ever delivered the goods, and plenty off it. Some off my friends even managed to get a deasent session on thursday while I was stuck at work. But with two days of 4,4m2 sailing I got plenty off quality sailing during friday afternoon and entire saturday. We got some good onshore waves on friday and was very pleased with that. On saturday the win was more or less the same but the was where missing until the wind increased in the afternoon. I rigged my 3,7m2 and we had two great hours in the afternoon with some great conditions, the waves was great for Larkollen and those of us who was out enjoying them had a blast, jumping and "riding" until our arms couldn't take any more. Larkollen 25 oktober 2008

Ohaaaa, what a day! Larkollen was fiering on all sylinders to day, after waring up for one hour with 4,1m2, it realy took off. I rigged my 3,7m2 and went out again. After a while there where only four off us left out there, Bjørn, Pekke, Paul and my self. Everyboyd else was blown out off the water. But those off us who was left had a blast as the waves picked up and we actually ended up getting some nice rideable waves between the whale and our shelter behind Denmark. When I finally was excaused I grabbed my camera and took some pictures off Pekka and Bjørn who was riding sideshore just outside the beach. All the pictures from "the whale" was taken my Boyd,

Everything was to big

What a day! Took a day off from work to enjoy a great day on the water. Jørgen and I went to Larkollen and we had a great day with only on problem, everything was to big. I used my 78 liter board with a 8,75 fin and a 4,1m2 sail. After an hour with a couple of backloop attemts I had to go inn and rigg my new 3,7m2. After about half an hour, even this sail got to big. And pretty soon even the board and fin seamed to big. Despite this we just kept on sailing, but the backloop attemts was dropped after a couple realy nasty attemts. It looks like the rest off the week also will be pretty windy. Looking forward to it.

Two days with 5,0m2

Had a great weekend with two day of 5,0m2 sailing at home. Friday I took of early from work and went to Larkollen. Had a great hour and a half playing in the onshore waves until the wind dropped just as it got dark around 7 o'clock.
On saturday Jørgen and I went to Hvaler and checked out a spot called Ørekroken. Nothing much to write about, so we went to another spot called Brattestø. Her the wind picked ut and pretty soon it was great 5,0m2 conditions. We cruised out to an Island called Akerøya and had a great time sailing in side/on waves with the biggest waves around 2 meters. But it's a long way back to the beach, especially with a broken mastfoot. Going out trough the waves I got wiped out when a wave was breaking right into my face. The mast extention broke clear off andI was swimming in the waves. After about 30 minuttes I managed to rigg up again, but missing about 30 cm downhaul made it a loooooong way back in to the beach

Thunder & lightening on Larkollen

We got two more days of sailing on Larkollen this week. Monday afternoon I sail with my 5,3m2 for a couple of hours in a lot of chop. But the weather was nice.

On wedensday we had a lot of rain with thunder & lightening striking close by just as I arrived. The thunder disapeard after a couple of big bangs and the sun started shining again, for a while............ The wind and waves where a lot better and I sailed with my 5,0m2 until it started raining again for a short while. After a couple of minutes on the beach, the sun and wind came back and so the evening went on. Wind, sun and rain, over and over again until I packed up my gear about 8.30. Offcourse in pouring rain.

A classic july day at Larkollen

I arrived at the parking at Larkollen around 12 o'clock on sunday, the wind was already steady and I rigged my 5,7m2, grabbed my 95 liter and went for at test run. Only to find out that it was to big, went stright inn to the beach and switched to my 5,3m2 and 84 liter board. Had a great day and sailed for about 5 hours sometimes overpowered. After a short rest and some food, I grabbed my camera and took some pictures when Thomas went out for a ride in the afternoon.

At last we got some wind

Sunday june 8th we finaly got some decent southwest wind and had a great day at Larkollen sailing 5,7m2 and also 5.3m2 in 22 degress water and airtemp close to 30C, what more could we ask for? Maybe a litle bit stronger wind?
I heard that some friends who was saling further south on the coast was using smaler sails, but we had a good time at Larkollen and ended it with a great barbeque on the beach after the wind had dropped.
